About MCNet
The Metro Conservation Network (MCNet) is a network representing over 500 natural resource professionals from city, county, and regional governments, state agencies, watershed organizations, soil and water conservation districts, non-profit organizations, for-profit entities, and others across the Twin Cities. While individual agencies and organizations have accomplished much in their own right, we recognize that we can produce a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts by coordinating our efforts and sharing knowledge. By working across jurisdictional boundaries, we can optimize planning, protection, restoration, and stewardship outcomes.
Guiding Principles
The Metro Conservation Network (MCNet) supports natural resource protection and stewardship efforts that are coordinated, proactive, science-based, and stakeholder-sensitive; and are sustainably staffed and funded to achieve meaningful outcomes based on the following core principles:
- Utilize traditional and non-traditional partnerships
- Integrate climate change prevention, reversal, resiliency, and adaptation actions into decision-making.
- Involve and listen to traditionally underrepresented communities, including people who experience intentional or unintentional barriers to participating in natural resource conservation and outdoor recreation activities due to, but not limited to economics, race, culture, disability, gender and/or sexual identification.
- Collaborate and prioritize when developing and implementing stewardship strategies
- Pursue outcomes that are well-defined and measurable
